Yılmaz Tatlıses, a vocalist, songwriter, composer, actor in cinema films, and founder of besteciler.com, whose songs were performed by many famous artists, was hospitalized at Ayvalık State Hospital in October 2018. The 73-year-old Yılmaz Tatlıses had been diagnosed with COPD, and his lungs had failed.
Yılmaz Tatlıses left his signature as a songwriter or composer on songs that marked an entire era, including “Acımasız Dünya,” “Deli Deli,” “Mavi Mavi,” “Seni Sevmeyen Ölsün,” “Ağla Gözlerim,” “Yaşamak Bu Değil,” “Nasıl İsyan Etmem,” “Candan Sevmeli,” “Neyleyim,” “Bir Seni Düşündüm,” “Yıllar Utansın,” “İnsaf Et,” “İstemem Sevme Beni,” “Adını Yollara Yazdım,” “Bu Şehrin Geceleri,” “Yanmış Bir Yürek Var,” and “Hatıran Yeter.” On 02.11.2018, he sadly passed away due to his illness.

Yılmaz Tatlıses was born on June 29, 1945, in Malatya. He began his primary education in Malatya and completed it in İskenderun. Because he had to start working at a very young age, he was unable to continue his education.
His musical career began at the People’s House in İskenderun, where he attended music courses. During this period, he entered the music world with folk songs that he personally wrote and composed.
In 1964, he met the famous singer Nuri Sesigüzel, who had come to İskenderun for a concert, and gave him all of his compositions. In 1965, while Yılmaz Tatlıses was still serving in the military, Nuri Sesigüzel released five of his works on vinyl records.
After completing his military service, Yılmaz Tatlıses moved to Istanbul in 1967. With 13 singles, 3 LP albums, and 5 cassette releases, he became one of the prominent figures of Arabesque music. During the same period, he appeared in the Yeşilçam film “Acımasız Dünya,” which also introduced him to music directing.
Later, he worked as a music director for many films. In 1987, he achieved major success with the song “Seni Sevmeyen Ölsün.” More than 150 artists performed this song. However, in the same year, he received the “Music Oscar” awarded by magazine journalists for the song “Deli Deli” as the “Best Song of the Year.”
In addition to being a composer and songwriter, Yılmaz Tatlıses also achieved great success as a producer and music director, leaving behind many valuable works.
With more than 300 compositions and nearly 100 song lyrics, he became one of the cornerstones of Arabesque music and remained an influential figure in the genre for over 50 years.
